If you live or work in Hampstead Gardens and you want your car to look better, stay cooler, and hold its value for longer, you have come to the right place. Rox Auto operates right here in Hampstead Gardens and offers both window tinting and ceramic coating from a fully equipped workshop you can drive to, or a mobile service that comes directly to your home or office.
This page covers everything you need to know about both services, including what they do, what to expect from the process, what South Australian law requires on tint darkness, and how to choose the right package for your situation.
About Rox Auto in Hampstead Gardens
Rox Auto is based in Hampstead Gardens, making it one of the few car protection specialists that genuinely serves this pocket of Adelaide from a local address rather than just listing the suburb on a landing page. You can book a workshop appointment and come to us, or you can tell us your address and we will bring the van to you. Either way, the quality of the work is the same.
We are accredited applicators for Gtechniq ceramic coatings, one of the most respected professional coating systems available in Australia. Every coating job we take on is backed by a manufacturer warranty, and we only use premium window film that is rated to last for the life of the vehicle when maintained correctly.
You can reach us on 0460 347 665 or at roxautosolutions@gmail.com. We are open Monday to Saturday, and same-week bookings are generally available.
Window Tinting in Hampstead Gardens
Window tinting is one of the most practical upgrades you can make to a car in South Australia. Adelaide summers are brutal, and the inside of a parked car can reach temperatures that damage leather, fade dashboards, and make the first few minutes of every trip genuinely uncomfortable. A quality window film addresses all of that.
What window tinting actually does
A window tint film is a thin, multi-layer sheet applied to the interior surface of your car windows. Depending on the film you choose, it blocks a significant percentage of the solar heat coming through the glass, filters out ultraviolet radiation, reduces glare from oncoming headlights and the low Adelaide sun, and adds a layer of privacy to the inside of your vehicle.
The films we use at Rox Auto are ceramic or nano-ceramic grade, which means they block heat through infrared rejection technology rather than simply by being dark. You can have a relatively light film on your front windows that meets SA legal requirements and still enjoy strong heat rejection because the film is working on the solar spectrum rather than just limiting visible light.
South Australian tint laws — what is legal
This is one of the most common questions we get, and it is important to get it right. The rules in South Australia are governed by the Australian Design Rules and enforced by SA Police and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.
| Front windscreen | No tint on the main viewing area. A tinted strip is permitted across the top 10% of the windscreen, provided it does not enter the area swept by the wipers. |
| Front side windows | Minimum 35% VLT (Visible Light Transmission). This means at least 35% of light must pass through the glass and film combined. |
| Rear side windows | Minimum 20% VLT. You can go noticeably darker here, which improves privacy for rear passengers. |
| Rear windscreen | Minimum 20% VLT. If your vehicle does not have external rear-view mirrors on both sides, this restriction tightens to match the front windows. |
| Goods vehicles | Panel vans and other goods-carrying vehicles are subject to different rules. If yours falls into this category, mention it when you book and we will advise accordingly. |
We measure compliance using a professional VLT meter and we will never install a film that puts you outside legal limits. If you receive a defect notice after having a car tinted elsewhere and need compliant film installed, we can help with that too.
Window tinting options at Rox Auto
We offer three tiers of film, each suited to a different budget and performance requirement.
Our entry level carbon film delivers reliable UV and infrared blocking at a price point that suits most everyday vehicles. It is a significant step up from factory glass and will make a noticeable difference to how hot your car gets on a summer day in Hampstead Gardens.
Our mid-tier nano-ceramic film goes further on infrared rejection and offers better optical clarity, which matters most for the front windows where you are looking through the film at all times. There is no metallic content in the film, which means it does not interfere with phone signals, GPS, or parking sensors.
Our premium ceramic film is the best performing option we install. It combines maximum solar heat rejection with a deep optical finish that enhances the look of the vehicle. If you are driving a prestige car or simply want the best protection your car can have, this is the film we recommend.
Ceramic Coating in Hampstead Gardens
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that is applied to the exterior painted surfaces of your vehicle. Once it cures, it forms a semi-permanent bond with the clear coat that does not wash off, does not wipe off, and does not degrade the way a traditional wax or sealant does.
The result is a layer of protection that repels water and grime, blocks UV radiation from degrading the paint, resists bird droppings and tree sap, and keeps the car looking like it was just detailed even months after the coating was applied.
Why ceramic coating matters in Adelaide
Adelaide’s climate is particularly hard on paint. The city records more hours of annual sunshine than any other Australian capital, and the UV index regularly reaches extreme levels during summer. That exposure, combined with bird activity, road grime, and the dust that comes in from the north, means paint on an unprotected vehicle is working hard every single day.
A ceramic coating does not make a car immune to damage, but it creates a sacrificial layer that absorbs the environmental assault rather than letting it reach the paint itself. Cars that are coated properly and maintained correctly hold their gloss significantly longer than cars that are not, and that translates directly to resale value.

How long does ceramic coating last
The honest answer depends on three things: the grade of coating applied, the quality of the prep work before application, and how the vehicle is maintained afterward.
A professionally applied entry-level coating, properly maintained, will hold its performance characteristics for two years. Our standard package is rated for three to five years. The Elite package, with its two-layer system, is rated at seven years. These are conservative figures. Vehicles that are washed regularly with a pH-neutral shampoo, kept out of direct sun where possible, and occasionally treated with a ceramic maintenance spray will often see those figures extended.
The coating cures over the first 24 to 48 hours after application. During that window, you should keep the car dry and avoid washing it. Full cure, at the molecular level, takes approximately two weeks. We will walk you through the aftercare steps in detail when you collect your vehicle.
Mobile Service Across Hampstead Gardens
Our mobile service covers Hampstead Gardens and all surrounding suburbs. If you are in Para Hills, Gilles Plains, Holden Hill, Greenacres, Klemzig, Valley View, or anywhere in the broader northern Adelaide corridor, we can bring the van to your driveway or your work car park.
The mobile setup is fully self-contained. We carry our own power supply, lighting, and all necessary equipment. You do not need a garage or a covered area, though a shaded spot is helpful on particularly hot days, especially for ceramic coating work where direct sunlight can interfere with the curing process. If you are unsure whether your location is suitable, call us and we will let you know.
There are no travel fees for mobile bookings within our standard service area. The price you are quoted is the price you pay.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the window tinting take?
Most standard tinting jobs take between one and three hours depending on the number of windows and the vehicle type. SUVs and wagons with large rear windows take a little longer than sedans. We will confirm the estimated time when you book.
Can I drive my car straight away after tinting?
For window tinting, yes. You can drive the car home immediately. We ask that you leave the windows wound up for the first day or two while the adhesive cures fully. Avoid cleaning the inside of the windows during that period. You may notice some small water pockets in the film initially. These are normal and will disappear as the film cures.
How do I maintain a ceramic coating?
The most important thing is to wash the car regularly with a pH-neutral car wash shampoo. Avoid automatic car washes with harsh brushes. Use a soft microfibre wash mitt and a two-bucket wash method if possible. Every few months, applying a ceramic maintenance spray or topper will refresh the hydrophobic properties and extend the coating’s life. We sell the products we recommend and can show you the correct technique when you pick up the car.
Will ceramic coating cover up scratches?
No. Ceramic coating is a protective layer that goes on top of the paint. It does not fill or disguise scratches. If your paint has scratches or swirl marks, those need to be addressed through paint correction before the coating is applied. Our Standard and Elite packages include paint correction work as part of the process. The Entry Coat includes a light polish, which addresses minor surface swirls but is not a full correction service.
Do I need to book in advance?
We recommend booking at least a few days ahead, particularly for ceramic coating jobs which can take most of a day. Window tinting bookings are often available at shorter notice. Call or message us to check current availability.
